Not what they used to be! Jan 22, 2009
By David Marvin Russell sweatshirts made in USA, the one's I used to buy at Kohl's were a great value for the money. Russell decided to go to the "low cost regions" like everyone else in the USA. First Mexico, those sweatshirts were thinner and too short. I recently when to Amazon to buy an Extra Large TALL because the ones made in Mexico were now too short and didn't cover my gut anymore, I bought two and they're now made in Pakistan. I bought them in October of 2008 and it's now January 2009 and they're are already shot! The stitching was bad when I received them (my wife fixed them up) and I've never had a sweatshirt run like a pair of my wife's stockings, I'm really surprised that Russell put their Logo on the outside, I personally would try to hide it. American companies go to the low cost regions to remain competitive in the market but most of the time the quality really suffers like in this case. I'll never buy another Russell sweatshirt because they are now "crap", if I want crap I'll go to Walmart. The sweatshirts I'm wearing now are Carhartt, Farm & Fleet has them, they're around $50 each but they are "warm, thick and quite luxurious. If your tired of foreign crap and want to stay warm this winter Carhartt is the way to go.

Very Well Made, Durable, and Extremely Warm Dec 12, 2006
By #1 Amazon Fan We purchased a couple of these during the $10 off $40 purchase and were pleasantly surprised with the quality. Frequently, it is hard to judge whether a particular brand of clothing will run small or larger, but know up front these do run on the larger end. The shirts are very thick and are some of the warmest sweatshirts we have ever come across - you won't keep these on long in a warm house.
The only minor complaint we could express is they are a bit stiffer than others, but that is likely due to the weave and why they are so warming. The cuffs are not quite as snug as we would like, but it's better than being tight. Overall, for the price and quality, these can't be beat.

Christmas Present. Jan 11, 2007
By Jeanne E. Gale A great sweatshirt for the tall man. Fits true to size and very soft and comfortable with out a lot of weight.

Russell, Sweatshirt Nov 11, 2007
By Tauper I ordered (2) of these sweatshirts in a larger size than needed to wear as a night sleeping shirt. These crew-neck shirts are very nice to wear as I wanted, and my husband loves to put them on as well, and wear out- in-public. They are real soft, they don't deposit lint fragments, and the visible "Russell" tag on the sleeve gives this sweatshirt an quality look. Something can go wrong with anything, so what I'm about to say should not be taken as a negative. In washing the black one, the bottom banding came completely off in the machine, leaving quite a mess in the washer. The red one washed beautifully and both dried nicely (still soft). I chose not to return the black shirt and to re-band the bottom myself, since I was using it to sleep in, thus for the (4) star rating. I am going to buy (2) more of these, one so my husband can have his own, and another for me in the correct size, to wear outside. Overall you cannot go wrong in making this purchase, the shirts do not look or feel cheap, and I'm sure you will like these since I myself am a picky consumer. Lastly, I launder all clothing before wearing, and you too should do this with these shirts, because they did bleed in the first two washings.

Russell Athletic Sweatshirts Jun 04, 2008
By Ray Schenk In the past to me, "Russell Athletics" meant quality, the latest sweatshirts that I purchased where skimpy at best.
