5Bang for your buck.  Nov 26, 2008 By K. Kurpiel
Great bang for your buck product.

These are comfortable, strong, wash well and look great. Durability that cannot be beat. These last forever and wash amazingly well. From decades of martial arts I have rather callused feet, which tend to kill socks. These socks take what my feet dish out, no worries. Wash after wash they keep on going too, no loss to form or the shape.

These are not just for hiking, or outdoors. You can get away with the Navy or Black on casual friday, but these are not really good for office use. If you work anyplace else, these are your friend. Overall theses are very comfortable; thin enough so you do not feel like you're wearing slippers, thick enough to be a great boot sock.

If you do wash them outdoors when hiking or camping, turn them inside out to dry. The wick properties will keep the sock from drying as rapidly if you do not do this.

Anecdote time:
I was injured a few years ago and had to have a lot of home care done. A friend bought me one of those bag-o-sox packages of what was called "sports sturdy" white socks from target. I wore those bulk white socks less than I wore these for comfort reasons.Even with wearing the white ones less, all are now gone and that pair of wigwam's are still going strong. That bag-o-sox cost about half again as much as this product.

Update: My friend in Japan just asked me to get more for their in house use. Apparently they are perfect for hardwood floors and shoeless households.

Second Update:
Year and and a half later and no visible wear. Still going strong, no fading of the colors. I cannot express the huge bang for your buck on these. I've gifted two pairs to an friend and a family member. It's not often you get someone calling you to tell you how good a pair of socks you gave them are. I got a call from each giving a thumbs up.

Suggestion: After a few washes turn them inside out and wash them once. It helps remove lint and softens the interior threads for better wear and comfort.

5Works for me  Feb 23, 2006 By Dale Davidson
I use them for work socks. I have sweaty feet. I wear steel toed boots. They work better then cotten socks for keeping my feet dry.

5Outstanding comfort and long wear -- great socks  Mar 29, 2010 By DEH
I bought two pair of these socks from REI a few years ago, one gray heather and one dark khaki. They were so comfortable that I bought two backup pairs, in case they became unavailable later. The backups are still in the original packages, because the first two pairs refuse to wear out. They've been worn and washed countless times, and they still show almost no wear. They don't pill, either. I use these socks mostly as casual socks and for 2-4 mile outdoor walks; for hiking and serious outdoor activity that requires a hiking boot, I prefer a slightly thicker sock with a wicking liner. However, I've hiked in these socks, and they're fine. I wear the socks without shoes around the house, which is usually a death sentence for the sole, but not with these Ultimax socks. The socks wick well, and the inner loops provide a very comfortable cushion. These socks are a superior product and well worth the price.

5Ultra Comfort  Mar 19, 2007 By Mr. Merl
These are the most comfortable socks I've ever worn. Whether they're worth such a premium price won't be known until I see how long they last. Other Wigwam socks I've owned have lasted practically forever.

5They breathe and don't tear  Apr 13, 2008 By R. W. Milyard "GearJunky"
I live in one of the hottest places in the world: Mohave Valley AZ, and we go around in shorts for a good part of the year. These are the best quarter length socks I have ever worn; good for work or play. The quarter length cover up my bony ankles and keep out debris when working in tennis shoes, which is normal. I have not been able to destroy a pair yet, while yanking them on (I am usually very successful at this). For full length socks, I recommend gold toe, although when old, they do not pass the yank test.
