5Visible logo-free,  Sep 02, 2009 By Bill Redden
For me sox are more about what they don't have than what they do.

I don't need a logo from a company that's not paying me to wear it. I don't need colored stripes that might go with some shoes but not others. I don't need a contrasting heel color visible above the low cut Jack Purcells, PF Flyers, or Chuck Taylors.

For hiking, tennis, cycling, snowboarding, etc I might need more sock. But for hanging out? These are just right. Thank God there's an old school company still making a plain old sock.

3Disappointed after a promising start  Oct 08, 2011 By chari
It's hard to find that perfect sock. Traditionally I favored Hanes, but lately it seems that their quality really varies (based on the version perhaps?), and somehow the socks I end up getting seem thinner each time. Fruit of the Loom are ok, but have nothing else to recommend them. Consequently I switched to Champion socks which were superior in every way. Well, were in that they have since "improved" the design so that the socks are now so uncomfortable that I refuse to wear them. Deprived of the "standard" brands I have since been branching out trying to find a worthy replacement.

At first these Wigwam socks were very promising. They are slightly cushioned on the bottom, thick enough to cover nicely but thin enough to keep feet cool, and, most importantly, they are soft and comfortable. They have a logo on the bottom of one sock from each pair so if you are picky and like to try and wear the same sock on each foot each time this is really nice as you can always use the "logo" sock on your right foot, or vice versa. The logo is a coating on the sock so normal stretching from wear cracks and distorts it, and it does fade with each wash, but has yet to completely come off. Based on my initial impressions these socks would have definitely have received a 5-star rating.

Unfortunately, after having the socks for a few months I have had to adjust my rating as I am really (and surprisingly) disappointed in their durability. While not expensive, these socks do not fall in the "economy" class at over twice the price of Hanes. For the price I expected them to last a reasonable amount of time, and instead after less than 3 months of wear (alternated with some old Hanes socks as well as some Thorlo Thorlo Women's Thick Cushion Hiking Sock) all but one pair (I purchased two packs of these for a total of 6 pairs) have developed holes in the sole. I would think I was just unusually hard on socks except that the Thorlo I have are older and worn more than these yet still look new on the bottom. Yes, one pair of Thorlo costs about the same as three of these Wigwams, yet I have gone through 5 pairs of the Wigwam while the Thorlo is still going strong. This has forced me to re-evaluate my sock purchasing as I am realizing how much cheaper in the long run it may be to just spend more for socks instead of trying to save money with cheaper brands.

4Decent cotton sock  Mar 22, 2011 By R. Hawkins
Nothing to write home about, but it was nice to find a decent cotton sock at a decent price. I can't stand the synthetic, acrylic, polyester blend socks. Feel strange and smell like no other (for me anyway).

The sole is sufficiently thick and not too thin on the top of the foot (picture sort of looks too thin). Elastic has held up well thus far, but I haven't had them that long yet. Breathe well, fit well (size 12 shoe and I'm 5'10" @ 165) and have worn well so far.

4Super Socks  Mar 17, 2012 By Simmo371
Great socks. Comfortable padding, good elastic and I hope they last as well as they first wear. One can only hope these days.

2Not very sturdy!  Feb 29, 2012 By Robert
My experience with Wigwam socks hasn't been that good. If you use the close look feature on this page and look closely at the sock pictured here; you'll notice that these socks have a very loose weave. It's very obvious. You can clearly see the models skin through the fabric; and that's how they look on your foot. I know, for some people that's what they're looking for; and they may be very happy with these socks. I on the other hand found them to be very quick to fail.
The biggest problems I had, was with the fabric failing near the top of sock when pulling them on. Sometimes like when you may be pulling them on right after a shower, or right after you laundered the socks; if you have to pull hard on the them your fingers may go right between the loose weave. Now that's not likely to happen right away but does cause them to fail much quicker then many other brands.
The biggest problem though is the heel. The fabric over the heel is inferior to most other socks. It's very thin. The fabric in heel should be heavier then in the upper of the sock, and it's not.
Look, because they're thin; they're comfortable. But the wear and failure rate with these socks is high.
And if you have rough skin on your heels or, anywhere on your feet for that matter; these socks will definitely fail early.
These are a very light duty sock.
